How To Make Ghirardelli Brownies Better.

Honestly, these are the best and it is near impossible to make them BETTER!

HOWEVER, if you have a DEEP 9×9 pan, make a double batch in the 9×9 pan. It makes the thickest and most delicious chocolatey brownies you EVER tasted!

We love to occasionally add icing and/or candies to the top! That does make it slightly better!

How Can I Tell if My Ghirardelli Brownie Mix Recipe is Done?

The best way is to know that the whole pan has turned into a brownie from the batter you placed in the oven.

Use a toothpick, stick it into the center of the pan and pull it back out. If you see brownie batter sticking to the toothpick anywhere, then you know it isn’t baked all the way through.

When the toothpick comes out clean, then you’ll know that the whole thing is baked all the way through.

James 1: 13-14

Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one. But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire.

Replace it with a richer, more flavorful liquid, such as milk, buttermilk or coconut milk. The extra fat from the milk will turn a normal box of brownies into a moist and gooey treat.

Can I use milk instead of water in Ghirardelli brownie mix? ›

Milk. Most brownie mixes call for water. While water does the job, you can add some extra flavor and moisture by mixing some of that water with something richer, like milk. If you want to swap it out completely, be prepared for a more chewy and fudge-like brownie from the extra fat.

Are Ghirardelli brownies fudgy or cakey? ›

Ghirardelli perhaps had a better chocolate flavor than Pillsbury but had dry edges. Otherwise, those brownies had an excellent texture with a fudgy center, and I thought that the addition of chocolate chips was a great touch.

What happens if you add an extra egg to brownie mix? ›

If you opt to add more eggs, say double the amount, something interesting happens. Even though you are adding more moisture, the air bubbles that you catch in the extra eggs add volume, which decreases the density of your final product. This makes your brownies rise and gives them a much more cake-like texture.

Can you use butter instead of oil in Ghirardelli brownie mix? ›

You can absolutely substitute butter for the vegetable oil. Use the same quantity specified in the directions (for example, if it calls for 1/3 cup of oil, use 5 1/3 tablespoons of butter). Melt it down, then let it cool a bit. You might not ever go back to oil!

Should brownie batter sit before baking? ›

Making Brownie Batter in Advance

Because most brownie recipes call for eggs, the batter shouldn't sit out for longer than two hours before baking. On the other hand, the sauce and dry ingredients can be made a few days in advance and refrigerated for freshness.

Do you beat eggs before adding to brownie mix? ›

The butter and chocolate are melted and then the eggs, sugar and vanilla are added. The eggs and sugar should be beaten just enough to break up the eggs and slightly dissolve the sugar.

How to doctor up a brownie mix? ›

Vanilla extract – Pure vanilla extract adds rich flavor to brownies. Eggs – Most brownie mixes call for one whole egg. Adding one large egg plus an extra egg yolk gives brownies an ultra fudgy texture. Chocolate Chips – Even if your brownie mix contains chocolate, plan to add chocolate chips.

Can you overmix brownie mix? ›

Over mixing brownie leads to too much air incorporation and can leave your brownie looking and tasting like a chocolate cake. Under mixing will lead to insufficient combination of your core ingredients and so the brownie texture will not form to perfection.

How much butter instead of oil in brownies? ›

Replacing Oil with Butter

It couldn't be easier to substitute butter for oil using a 1:1 ratio. This should work with olive, canola, vegetable, and coconut oils. Simply melt and cool the butter to room temperature, then continue with your recipe. (If the recipe calls for ½ cup oil, use ½ cup melted and cooled butter.)

How to enhance Ghirardelli brownies? ›

Fruits and Nuts

“Any nut will do, but my favorites are pecans and walnuts.” Feel free to chop them up and mix them into the batter, or add them on top for even more visual appeal. Candied fruit like orange peel, ginger, or pineapple are great for extra sweetness and chew.

How to make Ghirardelli brownie mix less sweet? ›

Add 2–3 tablespoons (or to taste) instant coffee granules. Or, you can add a couple of tablespoons of dry cocoa. I have a friend who adds about a cup or so crushed pretzels to her chocolate-chunk mixes for sweet and salty brownies.

How much water do you need for Ghirardelli brownie mix? ›

If I want to make these brownie more cake like, what ingredients should I add or increase. All that is required off of the box is 1/3 cup water, 1/3 cup vegetable oil and 1 egg.

What can you add to your brownie mix to pump up the chocolate flavor? ›

Add coffee or instant espresso powder to your brownies for an even deeper, more complex chocolate flavor. Swirl them with peanut butter, cream cheese, or even pumpkin filling to mix things up. Mix in nuts, add a marshmallow topping, or spread on your favorite frostings for fun, simple, or seasonal twists.

How to make a box brownie mix more cake like? ›

Add an extra egg to your brownie batter to make more cake-like brownies. There are directions on the back of the box. You can also make brownies from a cake mix with our Loaded Chocolate Cake Mix Brownies recipe.
