I'm doing a seasonal character for the first time, a Wizard. I'm really liking the Season Journey thing, it gives me goals to shoot for rather than endless grinding. But this TR Meteor build is loving broken, I've cleared GR93 without an ancient weapon, and I'm a poo poo player to boot. I didn't even take damage at all until the high 80s. Blink Teleport in, cast spells, everything dies. Past 90 with my lackluster gear I've found I need to coordinate spells with CoE's cycle and use the Occulus patches, but it's still not too bad. Someone upthread said they had issues maintaining 90%+ AP for the armor buff, and I haven't had much of an issue with that, surprisingly. I think I have some resource cost reduction on gear, and the +4 on crit is really useful. Other than that, I typically don't channel in one place too long and alternate the spells. Although I think I'll give the AP reduction rune on Ray of Frost a try, I've been using the one that freezes mobs.

I also tried FB Meteor, and it's dead simple (which I like), but squishy. Doing the Thrill conquest was fun - I obliterated it no problem with a similar build to FB Meteor, then set up a Nightmares set for future sh*ts and giggles. Then I tried Vyrs - holy poo poo, that's intense. But I didn't like how I did way more damage outside of Archon after getting stacks, and you're made of loving paper. I haven't tried the last set, forget what it's called. The one with the Time Warp bonuses?

Overall, cool class. How many Season Journey chapters are there? I'm on the one where you have to do a T13 rift in 5 minutes or less. I've tried this a few times and even with a mega-blaster-master rift, I can't seem to get it done because I compulsively stop to pick up DBs and leggos. Not sure what 2nd Conquest I'll do, probably the boss rush one.

Is there still a goon clan out there?

This. So far I've done it all solo.

Join a public T13 rift. 5 minutes should be easy in 1-2 rifts if you find a decent group. Guardian is the last tier.

Oh I have to do a 3rd conquest for the final rank? Hm, well I've been scrapping stuff I've found for other classes so 8 set dungeons is out, and I have no desire to speedrun the campaign, so looks like I'll be doing Avarice. I guess with a rank 50 boon and Avarice Ring (which is part of my farming setup anyway) it can easily be done with a blaster rift.

Silly noob question, but how does one join a public game?

Screw that noise. T13 cow level within a minute of entering the portal and you are done.

Ah yeah that would do it I guess. Thanks for the suggestions everyone. It didn't even occur to me that I could make the baradiche with the cube, good tip.

Speaking of cow levels, I got a cow rift yesterday! It was 10(!) floors and I full-cleared all of it. The trash/whites didn't seem to drop much loot at all, was I imagining things or is that true?

So with the season ending soon, how exactly does that work? I did a seasonal character for the first time. Do they transfer over to normal mode, and can you play them whenever? What, in terms of items etc. is transferred? I assume that stash doesn't go so I need to fill my inventory with whatever things I want to save, correct?

Tals is actually the least frustrating wizard set. Goddamn wizards.

Recently, I, a poo poo player doing their first season, cleared a solo 99 using Tals and un-optimized gear. I tried a bunch of other builds, and really liked Firebird/Meteors and Vyr's lightning, but both were so incredibly squishy compared to TR.

I almost completed the entire season journey too. Got stuck on clearing a normal in 2 minutes. I figured out a build I could use for that (TR explosive blast) but I got distracted by other games and, whoops, season's over.

Diablo III: What even are numbers (26) twenty thousand percent. I don't think I'll play Barb because I already have a 70 barb non-season, but that character will be doing some leapquakin'.

e: when is the patch coming? I don't see a date for that in their blog, just the season dates.

Started a seasonal Crusader the other day. I've never played one. I guess right out of the gate I've been destined to spin hammers around, as really early I got both Johanna's shield and Pox Faulds. Twice, even. I had two of each. By the time I hit 70, I decided that I'm not a fan of spinning hammers but since the season set is hammers I'm kinda stuck with it until I can farm something else. I had done the first 3 season chapters (4 set pieces), then it happened... two important items dropped (in the same rift, I think): A 5th set piece that I didn't have and this belt:

Diablo III: What even are numbers (32)

Justice is a ranged generator ability so it costs no wrath. So now I do 12 thousand percent more damage and I can just throw the drat hammers from wherever I want, however many I want. Queue me chucking a few down a hallway then walk over to everything being dead. I like this a lot better. Before I was struggling with killing elites/bosses in T2 and instantly moved up to T8. I can probably go higher but I'm squishy as gently caress if anything reaches me. I'll be looking for an Aquila Cuirass since I basically don't use wrath anymore. The rest of my gear is poop but it doesn't really matter at the moment!

Having a lot of fun this season, especially with the LoN stuff.

I got nearly perfect gear on a LoN energy twister / Arcane Wizard and now I'm ruined forever on everything else. I hold down disintegrate and massive tornadoes fly out of the laser beam, suck everything in and crit for 1.8 trillion per tick while I stand there with 700m toughness plus shields.

I tried to build a Firebirds/Meteor thing last season which sounds similar to this (you just sit there and channel Arcane Torrent and watch the meteor storm), but it was unbelievably squishy compared to Tal Rasha's. This does sound cool, though.

Did some more hammer chuckin on the Crusader yesterday. The first non-starter set to get 5 pieces is... Invokers. Hm, thorns. I set it up with the stuff I had (not cookie cutter, though) and it is both incredibly tanky and tears through single targets. Almost complete lack of AoE, though, even though I'm using a Hack and the Provoke/Thorns shield. I guess this would be ideal for group play where you only engage elites/bosses?

e: using Slash for AoE is much much better

In the console and arcade scenes, we call that "pre-rendered". Basically, doing sprites the old way was hard, time-consuming, and expensive. Once devs learned they could do it this way, they pretty much all jumped in on that bandwagon. Especially smaller devs, like arcade game makers.

I generally prefer the look of the old style. Especially most Japanese games. D1 was ok, though.

How would that thing prevent cross-talking of normal power usage? I'm imagining a scenario where you're playing something like WoW or D3 and as soon as your video card starts drawing more power to render stuff, then your connection goes to poo poo. Any electrical engineers in this thread?
