Lookin' good, Donna! You have a great Miata there!

Thanks for the kind words, Matt! :) As a matter of fact, I've wanted to ammend that post (#236) giving credit to those who helped me bring it all together, however the "edit" time had elapsed so I want to be sure to do it here. Special Thanks go out to "Brian the Red", "IGRocky", and "Li'l Red" for helping me achieve the look I wanted - much appreciated, folks !!! :toast:

Is your sexy Miata parked next to a super-rare 1996 Gran Sport Corvette? (that rare blue paint, the magnesium rims and the red front fender stripes allude to this)

However, I like the look of the white Kosei's on an orange NB.

Correct about it being a C5 Zo6... IIRC the electron blue pearl was a lighter blue (like Lazer Blue?) this is a darker metallic. Still nice though.

The person who drives it is very talented and a heck of a nice guy.

It's nearly impossible to get into the wider sized tires when your running a 15" wheel. The only time you can get into 225/235 territory at a reasonable profile is when your running R comps like v710's or hoosiers.

And don't use a wide angle lens, makes the stitching harder to accomplish. 50-100mm works pretty good.

Hand held panarama shots are possible but shooting in manual will help keep the white balance and exposure consistent.

I wouldn't have dreamed of getting what I got without a tripod! I've got a $300 dollar tripod! And I used it!

The inconsistencies in the stitching were because of the wide angle lens I was using. Not because I did it without a tripod.

I need to zoom in more and take more pictures. This experiment was last minute/on the spot. I was getting ready to leave and I thought I'd try something different.

The one I did before it turned out better. (attached)

Yeah. Tell me about it. :bang: For some odd reason my feeble mind decided to keep my camera on the idiot setting. If I had thought of it at the time I would have set my aperture and shutter. You can tell in the one I just posted that the camera is in program (auto) mode.

You guys have some cool-looking cars. I've saved a ton of photos for ideas and such.

I just bought this 2002 titanium gray SE with 24,000 miles, thanks to Manan (manmanSS). It's nothing outrageous or out of the ordinary. The goofy-looking headlight and taillight covers will come off, and my current hardtop on the M Edition will be repainted and plopped onto the SE. I was thinking about the FM AGX suspension and coils but will probably leave it alone for now. The ride height seemed too high in the photos, but, in person, it's not bad.

These are some incredibly crappy shots with too many shadows. Manan, the 997 is in the shop for an oil change.

Thanks!! I really like the color and will love driving an efficient and cool little car. I have a Toyota Sequoia and abhor the gas mileage.

I've raced and done DE's at WG a few times. I *love* how the course flows and still find the esses to be breathtaking. I had heard that Porsche was the marque at the Zippo GP but didn't have time to make it. Actually, I just got married near Watkins Glen at a bed-and-breakfast in Lodi.

Mark - No, I've never done DEs ay WG, at least I don't think I ever have. I have to admit that I'm not really sure what DEs are but if it's a driving school thing then I'm planning on doing one this coming year. WG is a great track. I used to go there for the F1 races in the 70s. We get back there 2 or 3 times a year for various races and it's always a great time. Their Motor Racing Research Center is always a nice stop also. Nice country with a ton of racing history!

DE's are driver's education events whereby one can get classroom and on-track instruction and learn how to drive a car on the track at speed. It's the most fun you can have with your clothes on. :)

Mark - That's what I figured DE's were and I'm planning on attending one this coming year, just to become a better driver and have some fun!

I wasn't at the F1 in 73 but I was there for the F1 in 75, 77, 79 & 80 so I did get to see all of the drivers you mentioned along with James Hunt, Fittapaldi and Andretti. It was the time of my life so I kind of relive my youth whenever I get back there. This year we meet Oscar Kovaleski who was a Can-Am driver and the former owner of Auto World at the famous & rustic Seneca Lodge. He had command of the place like an entertainer and was hilarious and a really nice guy. You have to come up for the Zippo Vintage weekend sometime.

My '99, daily driver and fun car. I bought a Triumph Thruxton last year so the Miata would seem more like the 'practical' ride.

averageplayer,
I have never spotted wheels like these, although I've seen some that are similar. They are 17x5 and say P.C.W, Made in USA, mold 1 series 01 6668 on them.
Here is a slightly better photo, though not really from the side. I can't seem to find one right now.

here's mine! it's a 1999 and the color is Emerald Mica (some call it british racing green) no performance mods yet, wheels and tires coming very soon, maybe performance exhaust (and maybe a new cat due to the seemingly common coil pack issue) and possibly some suspension upgrades. she's begging for a turbo though!

What happened to your top? Not vandalism I hope. Just thinking about it pisses me off.

But if was vandalism, where about did it happen? Ya know, so that my "list of places I can't park in the city" can keep on growing.

I cannot belive this thread stays alive, but I think it is great.

When The screaming pumpkin is pulled out of storage this spring and gets her 2000 SE steering wheel installed (just bought it on ebay) I will need to post some updated pics. Mods from last year include

1) Boost, A/F Gauge (to be replaced by a wideband) and BRB in Thompson DIN Panel
2) KG Works Burl Cluster and AWD Needle caps
3) IL Motosports Chrome
4) OEM Wood Steering WHeel
5) Chamagne Chapperel Wheels

Engine upgrades include a new PWR radiator and a PcPro to replace the POS Elf.

Welcome to the forum. Splash Green is IMHO the most misunderstood color ever to grace a MX-5 Miata. I drove one as a loaner for a week in '03 and absolutely hated the color. Now, with time, like Evolution Orange I've grown to appreciate it. It is also nearly impossible to capture it in a photo looking green. I resorted to photoshopping this image I took of the car I was lent because the original looked light blue.

My understanding is the 01 SE only comes in British Racing Green color ,and polished rims???????

15th February 2007, 17:22

Not true ... mine is brillian black and the vin lists as an ls on my insurance but the title states an SE, I also have no badging to indicate it but the title shows it so thats good enough for me

Nope, the '01SE (in the US, at least) came only in BRG, with wood trim, polished rims, special badging, etc., as previously stated. Brilliant black, white, or any other color with OEM leather interior for that year is an LS (unless possibly imported from another country like Canada where the title error could have originated  ). Hope you weren't mislead. I can see where this could be confusing. :)

flawedreality5,
did you buy a dash surround set or just paint the surrounds black?

flawedreality5

15th February 2007, 23:24

I didn't buy anything for the dash except the chrome bits and the DIN cubby. Everything else was the way I bought it from the Mazda dealer. Do you see a piece that's not stock?

your dash surround looks like its flat black. around the radio and the shifter. in my car its a burl wood type finish.
i dont have any pics of mine... thats yours btw

Beats me. I looked at 2 other Miatas at the dealer I went to and their dashes looked the same as mine.
